There are a growing number of Initial Teacher Training providers in the UK, including Higher Education Institutions, School-Centred ITT providers and Designated Recommending Bodies offering employment-based training. The GTTR process applications for entry to PGCE courses on behalf of ITT
providers in England, Wales and Scotland (except the University of Paisley).
It offers a searchable database of ITT providers by age range, subject and
course type.
Secondary
MFL Teacher Training Institutions (pdf document)
A listing of the institutions offering teacher training courses in secondary
modern foreign languages including PGCE, BEd, BA QTS, PGCE-Maitrise and
some SCITTs. The institution name and address, MFL ITT course leader contact
details, courses offered and main and subsidiary languages offered are given
for each provider.

in primary education with a specialism in teaching languages. Also includes details
of courses for teaching languages at Key Stages 2 and 3. The institution
name, contact details and languages offered for each provider are listed.

This information sheet offers information, further contacts and advice on
training to teach adults. It lists some organisations and accrediting bodies
offering teacher training qualifications for languages as well as generic
courses with a language component.

Recommending Bodies
Designated Recommending Bodies (DRBs) are partnerships of schools, local
education authorities and initial teacher training providers that deliver
the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP). This link to the TTA website provides
contact details for the 90 DRBs in England.
